Armed police swoop on Rigbourne Hill in Beccles after burglary involving two stolen air rifles
Armed police swooped on a Beccles neighbourhood after a burglary which was initially believed to involve a stolen firearm.
Officers were first called at 12.57pm yesterday when a member of the public reported suspicious activity in Rigbourne Hill before receiving a further call reporting a burglary in progress at an address in the same street.
It was initially reported that a firearm was stolen, which has now been clarified as two air rifles as well as an Xbox games console.
Two people were seen to leave the address.
The first was a white male, wearing dark-coloured trousers, a dark/navy blue jumper, a black baseball cap and black trainers.
The second was a white male, wearing a hooded jumper with a white top half and blue bottom half with black sleeves, blue shorts and white trainers with black socks. He was seen pushing an orange bicycle.
Officers including members of the roads and armed response team attended the incident and two air rifles were subsequently found by police.
No arrests have been made, while the investigation remains ongoing.
Reassurance patrols have been carried out and residents will continue to see an increased police presence in the area.
Anyone with CCTV, a video doorbell, or who has a dash-camera and was driving in the area, is asked to review their footage for anything that may support the investigation.
