Arrests made over theft and going equipped for stealing offences in Sparrowhawk Road in Holton




Three men have been arrested on suspicion of theft and going equipped for stealing after police responded to reports of suspicious activity in the Halesworth area.

Officers were called at 1.45am on Tuesday following reports of a suspicious vehicle and persons near to a business premises in Sparrowhawk Road, Holton.

This followed an incident in the same place the night before, where a large amount of copper cabling was stolen.

Officers were immediately dispatched to the location and after a search of the area located and stopped a Mercedes Sprinter van at around 2.45am.

Several tools were found inside the vehicle including bolt croppers, tin snips, screwdrivers and a hammer.

Three men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft and going equipped for stealing as follows: a 24-year-old man from Ipswich, along with a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, both from Dartford in Kent.

All three men were taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
