Beccles, Lowestoft, Somerleyton and Oulton Broad hit with flood alert by Environment Agency with flooding ‘likely’ over next 24 hours




Towns in East Suffolk have been hit with a flood alert, with flooding to roads and footpaths ‘likely’ over the next 24 hours.

The Environment Agency issued the notice for the tidal River Waveney to Breydon Water.

This area encompasses Beccles, Lowestoft, Oulton Broad and Somerleyton.

The Environment Agency said flooding to riverside roads and footpaths is likely for 24 hours from 8am today.

High water levels are expected at Beccles Quay.

The alert covers the majority of Beccles, while it stretches to around Normanston Drive in Lowestoft.
