Fire crews called to Field Close in Metfield after reports of smell of gas

Three fire crews were called to a Suffolk village this evening after a smell of gas was reported.

Firefighters from Harleston, Framlingham and Bungay attended a property in Field Close, Metfield at around 5.50pm.

A resident dialled 999 after they reported smelling gas and began to feel unwell.

The resident is now in the care of the ambulance service and Cadent gas company have arrived at the scene to check it is safe.

The fire response is now being scaled down, with one vehicle already leaving the scene.
