Fire crews free deer from rope around tree in Mendham's Withersdale Street




A deer which became stuck when its antlers got caught in a rope tied around a tree in a Suffolk village this afternoon has been freed by firefighters.

Crews from Halesworth, Stradbroke and Bury St Edmunds were called to Withersdale Street near Mendham Priory after reports the animal had become trapped by its antlers at about 4.15pm.

A fire service spokesman said a vet had also been called to help with the rescue.

Firefighters left the scene at about 4.55pm.
