Man arrested following assault in Suffolk town




Police have arrested a man in connection with an assault in Bungay in which a man was punched and kicked in the head.

Officers received a call from the ambulance service just after 12.30am which described a man being assaulted in the Market Place.

The victim, aged 30, and his friend were walking through the town when the 30 year old was assaulted by a group of men who are believed to have arrived in a vehicle. The victim was punched and kicked to the head.

The victim sustained facial injuries and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich hospital for treatment.

Officers arrested a 26 year old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He was taken into custody for questioning.

Police are continuing to probe what happened and are carrying out house to house inquiries and reviewing CCTV.
