Reggie Gipson, who plays for Beccles Caxton FC, celebrates golden boot win after 70 goals in a season
The mum of a football-mad boy has spoken of her pride after he won the golden boot trophy for his Suffolk team, scoring an incredible number of goals last season.
Reggie Gipson, seven, managed to put away 70 goals in all competitions for his team, Beccles Caxton.
The Year 2 pupil at Dickleburgh Primary School not only plays for that team but also Ipswich Town FC’s Elite Player Development Centre at Hartismere High School in Eye.
“As a family we are just so proud of him,” said his mother, Chelsey.
“His love for football is truly inspiring and his passion towards the game as a whole is so evident when he goes out on to the pitch.”
His mum said the Tractor Boy fan, whose favourite superstar players are Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, eats, drinks and sleeps the beautiful game.
“He is just crazy about football,” she said. “If he is not playing, he is watching it or talking about it all the time.
“His ultimate dream is to play for Ipswich Town and we will support him every step of the way.”
Reggie’s goal-scoring haul reads favourably to some of his footballing heroes.
Erling Haaland, who plays for Premier League champions Manchester City, scored 27 goals this season.
England’s Harry Kane scored 36 goals in his first season in Germany’s Bundesliga for Bayern Munich.
Cristiano Ronaldo set a new Saudi Pro League scoring record with Al-Nassr by hitting 35 goals this season, while Ipswich Town’s top marksmen Conor Chaplin and Nathan Broadhead, both bagged 13.
