Lollipop shoe shop, in Newgate, Beccles, could be converted to bar after plans submitted to East Suffolk Council




A shoe shop could be converted to a bar in a Suffolk town after plans were submitted to a council.

Jacob Oddy has sought pre-application advice from East Suffolk Council with regards to 35a Newgate, in Beccles.

The Grade II-listed premises, which was the Lollipop shoe shop, would be changed to a ‘drinking establishment’, according to a pre-application report.

The report said the applicant is seeking to keep the building ‘structurally the same’ with only cosmetic changes for tables and chairs.

There is currently no information with regards to opening hours or whether the proposed venue would host entertainment or have amplified music.

The building dates back to 1837.

Lollipop closed on April 13, with the owner deciding to move on after 17 years of running it, according to a post on its Instagram and Facebook pages.
