Arrest made in Beccles in ongoing investigation into rape of man in Chapelfield Gardens in Norwich




An arrest has been made in Beccles following an ongoing police investigation into a rape in Norwich.

A man in his 30s was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre last night on suspicion of rape in Chapelfield Gardens, on June 10.

The incident, which took place just after after 11pm, involved the rape of a man near to the bandstand.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in Chapelfield Gardens between 11pm and 11.45pm on the night.

Detective chief inspector Kevin Barber from Broadland CID, said: "Our appeal for witnesses or any information is ongoing and I would urge anyone who was in the area to come forward regardless of whether or not they believe they saw anything.

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw two men entering Chapelfield Gardens from the direction of Little Bethel Street and from anyone who may have seen a male dressed in dark clothing running off in the direction of or along Chapelfield Road.”
