Paddington Bear statue in Bury St Edmunds continues to inspire learning with more pupils visiting
Schoolchildren ‘loved every moment’ of their outing to visit Paddington Bear in Bury St Edmunds.
The Year 2 teacher at St Edmundsbury C of E Primary Academy, in Bury, took the class to the arc Shopping Centre to visit the Paddington statue.
There, they listened to the Paddington story they have been studying, posted him a card (like he sends to Aunt Lucy) and ate marmalade sandwiches.
Head of school Kim Bramley said: “It was a great idea by the class teacher to engage the children with their text. It also really motivated the children to write.
“The children loved every moment and put on their best manners to meet Paddington.”
The statue has been at the arc, outside the Apex venue, since October when it was installed as part of a nationwide trail to mark the launch of the new Paddington film, Paddington in Peru.
Tutor Tiffany Docking has also used the arrival of Paddington in town as a writing stimulus for her students.
