A14 collision near Bury St Edmunds between two lorries causing tailbacks




A serious collision involving two lorries is causing tailbacks on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds .

Police were alerted to the crash on the A14 eastbound in Rougham at about 9.43am.

Emergency services are on scene including a volunteer critical care team from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS).

Highways England said the A14 was closed in both directions between junctions 43 and 45.

The westbound carriageway has reopened but motorists travelling eastbound are advised to follow a diversion route.

Exit the A14 at junction 43 and follow the A143 through Great Barton until the A1088 roundabout at Ixworth.

At the roundabout take the fourth exit on to the A1088 through Stowlangtoft and Norton to rejoin the eastbound carriageway at junction 47 near Woolpit.

A Highways England spokesman said: "Please allow extra time for your journey, should you be travelling in the area."

Any witnesses – including anyone with dashcam footage of the incident - are asked to contact the Suffolk Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference CAD 71 of August 25.
