A14 reopens between Bury St Edmunds and Blackthorpe after late night crash at Rougham leaves motorcyclist with serious injuries

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash which closed a major road for several hours overnight.

Police were called to the single-vehicle collision on the A14 eastbound at Rougham between Bury St Edmunds at junction 44 and Blackthorpe at junction 45 at about 10.20pm.

The road was closed after the crash, and the man who was riding the motorcycle was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries.

A police spokesman said the eastbound carriageway was closed while a collision investigation was carried out and the vehicle was recovered, and it reopened at 7.40am this morning.

Diversions were in place via the A143 and A1088 to rejoin the A14 at junction 47 at Woolpit while the road was closed.
