Singing through challenging times: Abbots Green Academy teachers deliver uplifting message to pupils

Teachers at Abbots Green Academy have put together a positive sung message for pupils recorded from home.

The cover of Rachel Platten's pop hit 'Fight Song' was recorded with each teacher singing a line and the song then being edited together to form a message of strength and positivity for pupils at the school.

The lyrics were also communicated through Makaton sign language while being sung.

Headteacher Angie Morrison described her pride at the staff and the school's response to the challenges they have faced during the crisis and hinted that there may be more to come in terms of staying connected to children and their families in the coming weeks, saying 'watch this space.'

She added: "The song was something we wanted to release so that children saw our faces and we maintained that sense of community where they feel supported by the team at Abbots Green. We've got a really strong, positive team here that work well together and when times are tough, that shines through."

The light hearted message was delivered in addition to the school providing learning materials to help pupils while at home and maintaining open lines of communication with parents during lockdown.
