Jarrod Lawson, acclaimed soul musician and favourite of Michelle Obama, to hit The Apex, Bury St Edmunds, stage
An internationally acclaimed soul musician, who is a favourite of Michelle Obama, is set to light up a town’s theatre later this year.
Jarrod Lawson will perform at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, on December 2, one of only three ‘intimate’ shows across the UK.
Hailing from Oregon, in the United States, Lawson is known for his fusion of R&B, jazz and neo-soul, earning comparisons to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway.
After the Bury show, he will perform at Birmingham Town Hall on December 4 and London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire the day after.
Lawsom’s return to the UK comes after his previous sold-out shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and The Jazz Café.
The Guardian has hailed him as ‘an extraordinary talent’ while Jazzwise Magazine described his performances as ‘a transcendent experience’.
He debut self-titled album was released in 2014, followed up by his sophomore album ‘Be The Change’ in 2020.
Lawson recently released a retro soul duet, ‘Next Move’ with Los Angeles singer Raquel Rodriguez. The song hit number one on the iTunes UK R&B Songs chart, and has also topped the UK Soul Top 30 chart.
