Ixworth care home boosts mental wellbeing by ramping up activities
An Ixworth care home has been lifting the spirits of residents by increasing the number of activities on offer.
With government guidelines currently preventing external visitors from coming to see residents, in-house activities at Beeches Residential Home have helped lift the spirits of residents.
The activities have included arts and crafts, bowling, drawing, bingo and card games.
Staff at the care home have also been helping residents to organise video calls and keep in contact with loved ones who cannot visit due to the coronavirus crisis.
There has also been a cheerful window campaign where residents have created colourful window messages and pictures to help brighten Ixworth high street.
Angela Wade, registered manager at The Beeches Residential Home, said: "The whole team have been using their skills to the best of their advantage, making sure there’s always something to look forward to or something fun to enjoy."
She added: "The biggest thing for our residents and their loved ones is staying in touch. We’ve made sure to organise regular calls and support residents in getting online to help everyone stay connected through this difficult time.”
