Alert issued for Bury St Edmunds groundwater flooding including Eastgate Street, Barn Lane, Blomfield Street and parts of Vinefields

A flood alert has been issued for Bury St Edmunds.

The Environment Agency said flooding is possible as groundwater levels have risen after recent rainfall.

Areas of Bury St Edmunds at risk of groundwater flooding include Eastgate Street, Barn Lane, Blomfield Street and parts of Vinefields.

The alert said: “Be ready to take action to protect your property. We are monitoring the situation.”

Rain is forecast in Bury throughout today.
