A popular car show made a triumphant return for its 10th event to raise more than £35,000 for charity.

The Classic Car Show, organised by the Bury Abbey Rotary Club, took place in the grounds of Culford School in Bury St Edmunds on Sunday.

The volunteer-run event attracted between 5,000 and 6,000 attendees throughout the day, showcasing nearly 600 cars.

Peter Summers, show team leader, said: “It was amazing, we had a very busy show – it was our busiest ever.

“A whole Sunday without rain made for a beautiful day for exhibitors and visitors alike – we couldn’t believe our luck with the blue skies and sunshine.

“We would love to give a special thanks to Culford School and all of our volunteers from Rotary in East Anglia, the USAF and other organisations across the region.

“Every show takes six months of hard work to put together and it has taken 10 years of hard work to get to this point.”

Through past events, the Rotary Club has raised more than £150,000 for charities over the years, with the majority of this year’s raised funds going to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

This was the fourth car show hosted at Culford School and this year's event also set a new record for the highest amount raised since it began in 2014 when it was held in Elveden.

Some of the stand-out cars on display included classic sports cars, muscle cars, vintage convertibles, luxury sedans and rare exotic cars.
