Ipswich art event FIERCE COLOUR set to celebrate female artists
An art exhibition showcasing the work of 23 female artists is set to be held next weekend.
Fierce Colour art show, organised by Led Creatives and After Hours Collective, will bring the event to Ipswich at Ronin Body Arts piercing shop in the town centre - a venue which has blossomed into a space where artists can showcase their work for free in single-day pop-up exhibitions.
The exhibition, part of the town's 'Welcome Back Weekend', will feature work by local female artists to show the diversity of the Ipswich art scene.
The launch will also run alongside Ipswich Creatives Meetup, a monthly event led by Led Creatives.
Frankie Rose, co-founder of After Hours Collective said: "We are so excited to collaborate with Led Creatives.
"Our ethos is to support local female creatives and this exhibition is the perfect opportunity to showcase their amazing work because it allows our art to be seen when female artists are often underrepresented within art exhibition spaces."
Ed Ngai, founder of Led Creatives said: "We chose the theme of FIERCE COLOUR because we wanted to highlight a different side of local art that shows off female artists’ attitude and artistry with colour.
"After the success of our VIBRANT PUNK exhibit last September, it was apparent that more of these alternative art shows had to happen.
"These events bring creatives together and more importantly it brings excitement to the local art scene," he added.
Funded by Ipswich Borough Council and the ERDF, the exhibition will be up for one week.
FIERCE COLOUR will take place March 12 at 7.30pm.
