Floral murals are added to planters in Bury St Edmunds that are set to become community herb gardens
Wooden planters in Bury St Edmunds town centre have now been transformed into art, enhancing the area.
Artist Claire Michelle has been in Brentgovel Street to add floral murals to the four large planters, which are soon to become community herb gardens.
The Bury in Bloom organisation was tasked with decorating them and planting them up. Claire painted them for free and Bury in Bloom covered her expenses.
Bury in Bloom coordinator Chris Wiley said Claire’s work was ‘breathtaking’.
He said Bury in Bloom had been asked to enhance the area ‘and that’s exactly what we have done’.
Claire said she had received lots of ‘wonderful’ comments about her murals while she was working on them.
Bury St Edmunds Town Council led on the planters project, which is designed to deter illegal driving and parking in pedestrian and cycle zone.
Plaques will also be added to the planters.
