Bury St Edmunds chain of ASK Italian announces closure in customer email




A popular Italian restaurant in Bury St Edmunds will not re-open following the coronavirus crisis.

In an email seen by Suffolk News, ASK Italian expressed its 'deep sadness' at having to close its Parkway restaurant.

The email, which was sent out to customers, said: "The Covid-19 crisis has hit the restaurant sector hard and we've had to make some incredibly difficult decisions.

"It is with deep sadness that we confirm ASK Italian Bury St Edmunds is now closed."

It added: "We'd like to thank you for your regular custom."

Bury St Edmunds has also been taken off the chain's list of locations on its website.

It comes after the Azzuri Group, which owns ASK Italian, announced that it would close 75 restaurants across the UK .

Restaurateur Chris Sharman plans to open a branch of Burger Amour at the former ASK Italian as well as a branch of Dough & Co Woodfired Pizza, at the former Patisserie Valerie, in Abbeygate Street.
