A family in Barrow has created a display of balloons and placed it on Barrow the main street through the village to show their appreciation for the NHS.

Chay Simmons, 48, constructed the frame and added the balloons over the course of the day with his children, before placing it in a visible area to 'bring a bit of colour and put a smile on people's faces.'

He said: "It was something to take our mind off other things that kept us busy for a while and it's been appreciated by people walking by and brought quite a bit of joy to the youngsters as well."

The design had previously included a red heart made from balloons, but a number of them had popped in the sun and some hasty repairs were made with leftover balloons to rebuild the display.
