Bid to install 100 solar panels on land by Horringer House, in Chevington Road, near Bury St Edmunds, lodged with West Suffolk Council
A bid to install 100 solar panels on land near a village has been lodged with a council.
Natasha Miles and Michael Cooke have applied to West Suffolk Council to develop the land behind Horringer House, in Chevington Road, near Bury St Edmunds, for a ground mounted solar panel array.
The proposals feature a ground source heat pump and associated works, including an underground cable route.
Both the panels and the heat pump will use the same cable route to connect to the house itself.
The heat pump would be under the solar panels to make the best use of space.
The site would be accessed via Chevington Road and would use the existing access route to the house.
Horringer House, which is Grade II-listed, is outside of Horringer village itself.
A planning statement said the proposals would reduce the dependency of the house on fossil fuels while minimising impacts on heritage assets.
The panels will allow Horringer House to meet its own electricity and heating needs ‘independently and sustainably’, the statement said.
Surplus energy will be contributed to the local grid.
