Public Health England signs up for office in £39m Mildenhall Hub
Public Health England has signed up to take office space in the Mildenhall Hub, when building on the
£39 million project is completed.
The organisation wants to house its health protection team in the building, which is set to open later this year.
It will incorporate Mildenhall College Academy, as well as a library, advice centre, GP surgery and a health centre.
Offices will also be used by Suffolk Police, Suffolk County Council, West Suffolk Council and the NHS.
Public Health England protects the nation from public health hazards, prepares and responds to public health emergencies and promotes healthier lifestyles. From this office, it will be providing specialist health advice and operational support to NHS, local authorities and other public sector agencies covering the east of England. The organisation will not be directly involved in treating patients at the hub.
Councillor Joanna Rayner said: “The Mildenhall Hub is exciting because it means improved facilities, better suited to the needs of people in Mildenhall and villages.
“We share our offices in College Heath Road with a number of partners and we already see people using the services of the council and various partners during a single visit. The Hub will take this to a ground-breaking new level – for instance, people will be able to visit the health centre, join the gym, borrow library books and speak to local authorities about any issues, all in one visit.
“I’m delighted PHE has chosen to be part of this fantastic, ambitious and trailblazing project. “
