Bonmarche 'under constant assessment' as closing down sale signs are displayed at Bury St Edmunds shop
Bonmarche, in Bury St Edmunds, is continuing to trade despite displaying 'closing down sale' signs in its windows, according to a company spokesman.
Last week a staff member at Bonmarche, on Cornhill, said they had been told to put the 'closing down' signs in the window but the shop was not closing.
Bonmarche went into administration on October 18, with joint administrators FRP receiving numerous offers to buy the business.
A company spokesman said: "The 300 remaining stores continue to trade. As Bonmarche is in administration, many sites across the country have had 'closing down sale’ signs placed in store.
"The property portfolio remains under constant assessment."
He said Peacocks was announced as a preferred bidder for the company on November 28.
"Negotiations are ongoing and the vast majority of open stores are expected to be part of a deal from the bidder," added the spokesman.
