Urban beach set for Bury St Edmunds Spring Fayre on May 25 and 26

An urban beach will be one of the highlights of an annual Spring Fayre which returns to Bury St Edmunds this month.

The attraction, with Punch and Judy shows, will be on Cornhill during the two-day event, organised by Our Bury St Edmunds, on Sunday, May 25 and the bank holiday of Monday, May 26.

The Spring Fayre will feature numerous stalls across the town centre and Angel Hill, focussing on flowers, plants, crafts and food as well as a vintage market area.

Astronomy workshops, face painting and mini golf are among the free activities.

A carousel will also be returning to arc Shopping Centre and there will be a number of other fairground rides at the event.

With the recent commemorations for the 80th anniversary of VE Day, the Suffolk Regiment Museum will be participating in the fayre and it’s the last week of the Our Bury St Edmunds VE Day Trail in the town centre.

Mark Cordell, chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds Business Improvement District, said: “The Spring Fayre has been established in different guises for more than 25 years in the town centre and continues to be one of the most popular events here.

“It’s wonderful that Bury in Bloom, who work so hard for the town, are joining us at the Fayre this year.

“There are so many stalls to enjoy and free activities but also all the businesses who are part of our town centre all year round.

“A number of those will be joining in with the event including Meat and Greet, Cookie Barista, Beautiful Beers and Papaki’s Deli – and as Suffolk’s foodie capital there’ll be no shortage of places to enjoy something to eat or drink over the two days of the fayre.”
