Bury St Edmunds bar LP closes to 'protect customers, staff and loved ones' from coronavirus

Bury St Edmunds bar LP has closed until further notice as a safety precaution over coronavirus.

Mike Garling, owner of the venue in Woolhall Street, said he hoped the closure would be 'as short as possible'.

He said: "Although we have had no cases or potential covid issues and have been following a rigorous sanitisation regime, I think that this is the best course of action for public safety.

"This is to protect customers, staff and their loved ones. It is a difficult to make this decision but it is contradictory to ask staff to work in an environment where the Government are telling people to avoid.

"We very much hope that this suspension is as short as possible, and we will return to making great food and drinks soon, and to open our nightclub to Bury’s loyal revellers again at the earliest prudent opportunity.

"We wish everyone all the best for these unprecedented times."
