Engineering and builders merchants D J Evans of Bury St Edmunds is opening its doors in a two day trade show which celebrates a new look overhaul.

The company which began its life as a light industrial manufacturer and oil importer in 1911 has remained a family run business to this day.

Gary Mayes took over as managing director at the St Botolph's Lane business last year.

He took over from Roger Ling and Richard Evans. Henry Evans works at the company and has been project manager heading up its refurbishment.

The updated shop will go on show at the trade event with suppliers displaying their goods and food and drink on offer including a free hog roast.

The trade show is on July 13 and 14 and runs on the Friday from 12pm to 8pm and on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Suppliers from the building and engineering industry will attend the show include Record Power, Beta Tools and From the Anvil ironmongery.

As part of its expanding business D J Evans purchased a GKN depot servicing Norfolk and Cambridgeshire 15 years ago and in 1995 opened a depot in Ipswich.

DJ Evans has this year been sponsors of the Bury St Edmunds rugby team and the Camra beer festival at the Apex.
