To celebrate ‘One Great Day’ again this summer the arc shopping centre in Bury St Edmunds is hosting a wellingotn inspired event.

The family event in Charter Square will be on Friday, June 23 between 11am to 5pm.

Events include wellie wanging for your chance to win a pair of Joules wellies, a cake sale with EACH children’s charity and a chance to meet miniature donkeys.

The event is part of the One Great Day initiative, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

To take part in the activities there will be small charges and requests for donations which will then be split equally between the two charities. Although Great Ormond Street Hospital is located in central London, more than half of their patients come from across the UK, often with illnesses that cannot be treated elsewhere.

The local charity is the children’s hospice charity EACH who support children and young people living with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement.

Colin Roberts, centre manager at the arc, said “This nationwide charity event is a great way to raise funds for two marvellous charities while ensuring the focus is on having fun.

“EACH touch so many lives in our region and although people often associate Great Ormond Street Hospital with London, their reach is so much wider than that, they treat kids from all over the UK, including many from our area. Please come along and support the event.”
