Bury St Edmunds woman thanks Harley rider who gave that 'little extra' to friend

A friend of a Bury St Edmunds man who has terminal cancer has thanked the kind stranger who helped him tick something off of his bucket list.

Julie Macro, also from Bury, wanted to help Tim Licence after he was diagnosed with a stage four brain tumour eight weeks ago, after only celebrating his 60th birthday in December.

She said: “I asked him what he would like to do and he came up with a few ideas, including riding on the back of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.”

The industrial cleaning company worker was given three months by doctors and due to his rapid decrease in mobility nobody would cover him for his dream.

Julie started asking friends from various groups she attends for help and she was put in touch with David Jervis, a taxi driver in Newmarket.

She said: “From the first moment I first spoke to Dave he was more than happy to help and was willing to drop everything to give Tim what he wanted.”

The pair met two weeks ago and Mr Jervis took his passenger on a three-hour ride, including a coffee and a bike chat at West Stow.

Julie said: “Dave was amazing. It is hard to find people these days that will do that little extra but Dave has and I know Tim thanks him so much for what he has done for him.”

Dave said he enjoyed taking Tim for the ride and said he did really well.

He said: “We had the same sort of thing in our family, I am proud and glad I could help him in this small way.”
