Calling all businesses for hospice challenge
Companies prepared to take on a charity challenge must volunteer for the annual St Nicholas Hospice Care Accumulator by the end of June.
The Accumulator Challenge begins on June 28 with companies given £50 which they must turn into the biggest donation they can for the hospice in just three months.
The firms compete to win the top fundraiser prize, which, with other accolades, is presented at an awards night in October.
Hospice corporate fundraiser Rachel Card is hoping to persuade as many businesses as possible to take part in a summer of fun and fundraising.
She said: “For me, the Accumulator Challenge really is the highlight of the summer and I am looking forward to a packed three months of competitive fun.
“As well as raising much-needed funds, I hope it will be a good team-building exercise and business networking opportunity. Every penny raised will help the hospice to continue to care for those across our community with long-term and life-threatening illnesses.”
Since the first Accumulator Challenge in 2010, company teams have raised thousands for the hospice, with last year’s challengers raising £23,176.
Over the years money making antics have included family fun days, fitness challenges, treasure hunts and donut days while more traditional fundraisers - such as cake sales and quizzes - have also proved very successful.
