Thetford: Captain Tom Moore honoured with mural on The Black Horse pub

After winning the hearts of the nation with his fundraising, Captain Tom Moore has been painted onto the side of a pub.

On the week of his 100th birthday, the Second World World veteran has become the latest artwork on The Black Horse in Thetford.

Landlords Terry and Pam Gillman are currently busy running a popular delivery service since the pub closed in line with coronavirus measures.

Terry said: “The artist Lee Stroble paints a mural twice a year for St George’s Day and Remembrance Day. We wanted to do something for the NHS and after Captain Tom’s magnificent feat we wanted to show our appreciation. The response has been fantastic.”

Terry has been making food deliveries himself and has even worn fancy dress.

“It’s good to see a smile,” he added.
