Stow Healthcare from Stowlangtoft scoop national award in Great British Care Awards

A care company is celebrating a national win.

Stow Healthcare, of Stowlangtoft, was crowned winner of the Workforce Development award at the recent Great British Care awards.

The event was held at the International Conference Centre in Birmingham, and the award was presented to operations director, Ruth French and operations manager, Alex Ball, by TOWIE star Mark Wright.

The honour was given in recognition of work done by the company in developing its own 450 staff and also to attract young people to a career into the social care industry by speaking to local schools.

Stow Healthcare has also become a popular destination for graduating nurses.

Speaking after the awards, Alex Ball said: “For our work to be recognised at a national level during a global pandemic is unbelievable.

"It’s been an incredibly tough time for everyone in social care, so to be shortlisted amongst so many amazing finalist was an achievement in itself, but to be named winners for the second time was the icing on the cake."

The judges said of Stow Healthcare: “Stow Healthcare use diverse and creative strategies to develop their work force in all job roles, including their residents’ participation in training programmes.

"They recognise that everyone has skills that can be transferred and learnt by others, to achieve an outstanding standard of care and working environment.”

Director Ruth French, said: “This award could not have come at a better time.

"We are thrilled that the hard work put in by the whole team to ensure that training and development at every level is given the highest priority; it’s a fantastic achievement.”
