The Beeches Residential Home in Ixworth takes 'huge step towards normality' after all residents and staff receive second dose of Covid-19 vaccine
A care home near Bury St Edmunds has taken a 'huge step towards normality' after all residents and staff received both doses of their coronavirus vaccine.
The Beeches Residential Home, in Ixworth, welcomed Dr Calum Hart, from the village's GP surgery, who immunised all residents and staff with the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Bev Shave, deputy home manager, said: "After such a difficult year for us all, this feels like such a huge step towards getting back to some normality.
"I am so proud of the team and how they have continued to work tirelessly throughout the pandemic, prioritising the health and care of our residents.
"Now that everyone in the home has had both doses of the vaccine, we can start to work towards getting back to a new normal but will remain extremely vigilant in our approach.”
In line with recent Government guidance over visiting rules, The Beeches is allowing residents to nominate one family or friend to make repeated visits to the home.
Visits are taking place either indoors in the home's Covid-secure pod or if weather permits, family and friends can sit outside in the garden area.
Testing is only required if visitors decide to enter the home and will be asked to take a coronavirus test three days before their visit.
