St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds invites public to join online choir
St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds is inviting the public to join a virtual choir in singing Fauré’s Requiem.
'Singers of all voices' are invited to log in to social media from 5pm on Friday (June 12) to participate in a 'come and sing' version of the mass.
The organ accompaniment and soloists have been pre-recorded and these will provide backing and support via the Cathedral’s YouTube channel, whilst singers join in at home.
"Music lifts the spirits."
Richard Cook, acting director of music, said: "A similar venture on Good Friday was hugely successful with more than 1,400 singers joining in a virtual version of Stainer’s Crucifixion.
"Music lifts the spirits and we are pleased to be able to engage creatively with people in this way."
The cathedral is also holding a series of recitals on Fridays at 1pm. These can be viewed on the Facebook page, or watch again by clicking here.
