Fornham All Saints' Three Kings reopens with champagne and a new chandelier

There were celebrations when a much-loved pub reopened recently following a major makeover.

The Three Kings, in Fornham All Saints, Suffolk, reopened on August 3.

Chris and Hayley Lee, have taken over the pub and given it a major makeover. The couple also run the acclaimed Bildeston Crown, Bildeston and have expanded their empire after taking on the Three Kings as tenants.

“Short of knocking it down and rebuilding we have pretty much given it a complete makeover from top to bottom,” said Chris.

“This includes new carpet, new toilets, new blinds, new lighting, kitchen, fridges. Everything is new.

“The pub is also going to be painted outside, too, courtesy of Greene King.

“I think it looks great and we even have a chandelier.

Every pub needs a chandelier, to go with the champagne.

Chris, a chef, was awarded three AA rosettes in 2019, and will work between the two businesses. The Three Kings already has 20 new staff.

Chris and Hayley were head chef and manager at The Bildeston Crown for ten years before taking it over in 2015. With the Three Kings they hope to attract more customers from the Bury St Edmunds area.

“We’re limiting it to 30 people for lunch and for dinner at the moment while restrictions ease,” said Chris.

“But the feedback has been brilliant from local people who are pleased to see it open again.

“So far, it has been a trial run really as restrictions still ease. We’ll be starting the carvery in a couple of weeks. But it’s a lovely huge pub in a beautiful village.

“It’s exciting times and we are delighted to be open.”
