Pick your top teacher or TA in the Bury Free Press Top of the Class Education Awards across Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Thetford and more

This is your chance to crown your star teacher or teaching assistant in the new Bury Free Press Education Awards 2024.

Launching today, ‘Top of the Class’ celebrates the unsung heroes of the classroom across our schools.

Do you know a teacher who goes the extra mile? Do you or your children wish they could say ‘thank you’ to their favourite teacher? Is there a TA (teaching assistant) who has helped your child to thrive?

This is the opportunity to shine a light on that individual and give them the recognition they deserve. We will crown two winners – our Teacher of the Year and Teaching Assistant of the Year.

They may work in early years – providing a solid foundation for children’s future learning – support pupils with special needs or help older students to foster a passion for a particular subject.

Whatever their role, they will be making a difference to the lives of our young people.

Free Press editor Barry Peters said: “The Bury Free Press Top of the Class Education Awards 2024 gives our communities the chance to say ‘thank you’ to a teacher or teaching assistant who has had a positive impact on a young person’s life.

“We all remember our favourite teachers: their support, patience and passion for a subject help shape us, leaving a lasting impression throughout our lives. The best teachers help open up opportunities for the future, whether an academic path, building confidence or guiding a young person to discover their strengths.

“Please support our awards by nominating your star teacher or teaching assistant and giving them the opportunity to be top of the class.”

The awards are back following a break during the coronavirus pandemic.

Entry is open to teachers and TAs working in any year group up to and including Year 11.

Schools eligible for entry are within the Bury Free Press circulation area. This includes Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Needham Market, Thetford, Mildenhall, Lakenheath, Brandon.
