Charity helps boy to meet his hero

A six-year-old boy, who suffers from a rare spinal condition, got the chance to meet his motorcycling hero thanks to a Bury St Edmunds based charity.

George Woodward, from Ipswich, has Spinal Muscular Atrophy which is a genetic conditions that effects Georges muscles, leaving him unable to walk.

GeeWizz, who help families in Norfolk and Suffolk by buying specialist equipment for children and young adults with life-threatening conditions, a disability or cancer and who helped George by purchasing his bespoke wheelchair, arranged for him to meet multiple MotoGP World Champion, Valentino Rossi.

GeeWizz founder, Gina Long MBE, said: “When we heard that his parents, Laura and Lee, had booked to watch George’s hero Valentino Rossi at the Moto GP, I knew I wanted to try and make the trip even more special.

“I contacted Valentino’s team and as soon as they heard George’s story, they had no hesitation in helping."

George not only got to meet his hero but have photographs with him as well as getting his shirt signed and an autograph.
