The Gatehouse charity has opened a new community cafe in Bury St Edmunds

The Gatehouse charity has opened a new community café.

The cafe, on Dettingen Way, Bury St Edmunds, will raise funds for the charity, which helps those with material and emotional needs.

“The café will provide a Covid-safe space for families and individuals,” said chief executive, Amanda Bloomfield.

“It will complement the homestore and foodbank, while providing a place for everyone to use, and carers to bring loved ones. Our staff all have awareness of dementia and the skills to make people feel welcome, whilst adhering to social distancing rules.

“Local supermarkets have also donated food which we will be selling for a small donation, as part of the project.”

The cafe is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9:30am and 2:30pm.
