Autism Anglia Muddy Fun Run at the Playground is back in Barrow near Bury St Edmunds
Autism Anglia, a charity providing services for children and adults with autism, was back with a splash on Saturday, March 19 with its successful fund-raising event.
The charity was finally able to put on its Muddy Fun Run at the Playground in Barrow near Bury St Edmunds after the event was unable to go ahead for the past two years due to the pandemic.
The event had sold out a week before it took place and raised £4,500 to be used towards services the charity provides in the community.
Anna Smith, head of fund-raising, communications and marketing said: "It was a sell out event of 100 places which was great.
"We had children and adults from a whole range of abilities. Some parents shared with us that their children were autistic and really enjoyed the event because it was relaxed.
"Everyone was really supportive of each other and you could hear lots of cheers across the field," she added.
Participants had to undertake a 1km obstacle course which included rope climbs, high walls, slides, monkey bars and a ninja warrior style ramp.
The charity had felt the impact from the pandemic but Anna said it was good to finally get people together.
"Like all charities it’s been a struggle throughout the last couple of years but it was great to be able to bring people together again, talk to people about what the charity does and thank our fund-raisers."
Autism Anglia will also be hosting a Silly Sock Day and free webinars for World Autism Acceptance Week and World Autism Awareness Day which will take place March 28 until April 3. More information can be found on Autism Anglia's website, here.
