Bury St Edmunds restaurant owner Ben Hutton launches Crumbs, a cheesecake business inside Queen's Bar and Grill
A restaurant owner has capitalised on the love for his cheesecakes by opening a bakery business.
Ben Hutton has launched Crumbs, which also sells stuffed cookie pies, from inside Queen's Bar and Grill - which he runs in Churchgate Street in Bury St Edmunds.
It caps a rollercoaster year for Mr Hutton who closed Ben's Restaurant and turned it into a farm shop, which has now become an event venue.
Crumbs will offer customers the chance to make orders and collect cakes from inside Queen's. On Saturdays, the bar will open for a showcase of orders to be bought over the counter.
It is set to pave the way for a delivery service to launch later in the year, while the business could also be promoted from a market stall.
Mr Hutton said: "It has been a year of change. We launched Crumbs two weeks ago, it is early days but we have picked up a few hundred followers.
"Hopefully it will grow quite quickly."
He added: "Through lockdown we have been doing the cheesecakes in Queen's and they have been popular. It is a bit of a novelty launching it into its own thing.
"I needed something to keep me going. In hospitality, you are used to working long and hard days, so I needed to have something else."
