Cygnets Childcare in Great Whelnetham near Bury St Edmunds celebrates achieving 'outstanding' by Ofsted

A childcare provider has secured an 'outstanding' rating from the education watchdog only a year after being judged to need improvement.

Cygnets, which operates from premises within the grounds of Great Whelnetham Primary School, near Bury St Edmunds, was inspected by Ofsted on November 30 and was awarded the top level in every area.

It had been judged 'requires improvement' following an inspection in December 2021. The inspector said the setting needed to ensure Ofsted was provided with the required information about members of the management committee so that suitability checks could be carried out.

Carolyn Stokes, manager of Cygnets Childcare, said they were 'delighted' with the latest inspection result.

"As you can imagine, we are thrilled with the inspection outcome and are very proud of the report which reflects everything Cygnets is about, and the experienced and dedicated staff team’s commitment to providing our children and their families with the very highest quality care and early years education.

"Parents’ testimonials given to the inspector were clear about how Cygnets’ staff really get to know their children, supporting them and their families holistically, and how the children are at the centre of everything we do."

The inspection report said: "Children are exceedingly happy and settled in this highly welcoming and inclusive setting. When they arrive, they eagerly wait for the doors to open, so that they can go off to play and learn with their friends.

"Children are secure and confident. They are highly motivated learners, who make rapid progress from their starting points."

It continued: "Staff pay the highest priority to supporting children's emotional wellbeing."
