Ching-He Huang, star of BBC’s Chinese Food Made Easy, to headline Our Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival
An award-winning TV chef will headline a town’s food and drink festival later this year.
Ching-He Huang MBE, best known for ‘Chinese Food Made Easy’ on the BBC, will appear at the Chefs on Stage Cookery Theatre for the Our Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival on August 25, the second day of the free-admission event.
Known for her trademark ‘minimum fuss, maximum flavour’ ethos, she will host three demonstrations while other chefs from some of the town’s restaurants – including Ruben Aguilar Bel and Gabriella Fogarasi, from Bellota, and Zack Deakins, from 1921, – will also take to the stage.
Ching has been seen in other BBC shows including ‘Exploring China – A Culinary Adventure’ with Ken Hom as well as several appearances on ‘Saturday Kitchen’.
Mark Cordell, chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming Ching-He Huang to Suffolk’s foodie capital.
“Her approach is to show that Chinese cooking need not be complicated or time-consuming and it’ll be fabulous to find out about her delicious recipes in our theatre kitchen.”
Mark said there has been huge interest from BID members to take part in the event once again, and many of its favourite regular stalls will be returning.
Other businesses taking part, whether it be on stage or fronting stalls, include The Angel Hotel, Lotties Waffles, Beautiful Beers, Wine Cellar and Peck among others.
Across the festival, guests can sample a raft of international cuisine including Albanian and Greek, while there will also be artisan cheeses on show and a farmers’ market selling local goods.
Pets can get in on the fun by visiting stalls from Norfolk Doggy Deli or Untamed cat food.
The Food and Drink Festival has other attractions for the family including mini-golf, a helter skelter and fairground rides.
It runs from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, August 24 and Monday, August 25, which is a Bank Holiday.
