St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds to hold Choral Evensong
St Edmundsbury Cathedral will welcome back worshippers for its first Choral Evensong service since March on Sunday.
Very Reverend Joe Hawes, Dean of St Edmundsbury, will lead the service from 3.30pm. The cathedral has also been holding a morning service and will continue to stream services online.
Rev Hawes said: "Although we have continued to livestream services throughout lockdown, it is wonderful to worship in the inspiring space of the Cathedral building, now enhanced with choral music.
"Evensong is drawn almost entirely from the Bible. Its primary purpose is to proclaim the wonderful works of God in history and in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Its secondary purpose is to evoke from the worshipper a response of praise, penitence, prayer, and obedience."
To book a place at Evensong, email: cathedralinvitations@stedscathedral.org by Saturday lunchtime.
