More on Bury St Edmunds’ new Christmas fair, in Charter Square, arc Shopping Centre, revealed as Eden Crafts Ltd makes licensing application
More details about a town’s new Christmas fair have been revealed after its organisers made a licensing application.
Eden Crafts Ltd has applied to West Suffolk Council for a premises licence for the event in Charter Square, in arc Shopping Centre, Bury St Edmunds, from November 1 to December 21.
The fair would have a 25 metre by 10 metre craft marquee with flooring, carpet, lining and heating, while it would have tables and chairs around the edges.
It is expected it will hold around 100 people and the fair would have licensed security at night.
From Monday to Saturday, it would be open from 9am to 9pm, while on Sundays this would change to 10am to 5pm.
Alcohol would be able to be sold during these hours.
Background Christmas music would be played in the marquee.
There would be a carousel next to it, according to a drawing of the marquee area, while the marquee itself would have transparent walls.
The bar would be at the entrance of the venue.
A separate licensing document on the application said the operating schedule would run through to New Year’s Eve.
SuffolkNews reported earlier this year Eden Crafts is looking for local businesses to showcase their products at the fair.
Last year, market traders led a call for the return of the much larger Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre, which took place on Angel Hill and at its peak brought around 120,000 to the town.
