Bury St Edmunds' Abbeygate Cinema hits the road on tour
Abbeygate Cinema is hitting the road and joining forces with The Moving Cinema to bring a unique cinematic experience to the area around Bury St Edmunds - and beyond.
The first stop the mobile cinema is attending is Ring Quest at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village during the February half term.
February 2002 saw the first ever Ring Quest event take place at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village and has always been a family friendly event, awakening all ages to the special magic that is Tolkien’s world.
Now, 20 years on, Ring Quest will celebrate this milestone with an event that promises to be 'bigger and better than ever'.
The Moving Cinema will be at the Ring Quest event from Thursday February 24, with screenings of the 2019 film Tolkien, starring Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins.
Screenings of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, will also be played on the tour.
Designed and created by Toutenkamion in France, ‘The Moving Cinema’ is a purpose-built mobile cinema in the form of an HGV truck and is one of only 3 units in the UK.
Once parked and connected to an electrical supply, the specialist hydraulics extend the side-walls of the trailer making the unit an extra 12 feet wider.
The cinema is fully heated, weatherproof and sits an audience of 100 people.
