Abbey Security and Turners Hyundai in Bury St Edmunds celebrate 33 year partnership
Two Bury St Edmunds companies are celebrating a partnership which has lasted 33 years.
This week Abbey Security took possession of its latest vehicle from Turners Hyundai in Tayfen Road.
The Hyundai Kona mini SUV will be used by Kerry Fulman who is taking on a new role as business development manager with the security firm which is based in Eastern Way.
She has worked her way up from receptionist and Abbey Security is sponsoring her driving lessons so she can fulfil her new role visiting the sites the company looks after.
Present at the key hand over was the replica of Abbey Security’s original Ford Fiesta which they purchased back in 1985.
The beige vehicle, which has made its way into the Festival of the Unexceptional due to its beige appearance, is often to be seen at car shows flagging up Abbey’s business.
Ian Whitaker-Bethel, founder and managing director of Abbey Security, said: “It’s all about loyalty and we believe in offering that to our customers and the businesses we deal with.”
David Alstin, operations director, said: “We do our utmost to do business locally.”
The company began in 1985 and has been based in Bury since then. Despite three financial depressions they believe they have thrived by caring for their staff.
Martin Banham, sales executive at Turners Hyundai said: “You need to promote local business in this age of the internet and it’s nice that some companies keep their business in this area.”
Turners runs a special local business programme whereby local companies who register enjoy discounts.
As well as working with Turners over the years Abbey has also been looking after security for Abbey Labels in Bury St Edmunds for 33 years.
