Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw is benefiting from generous donations from businesses

The theme this month is definitely ‘Love and the Revamp’.

This started in January when local designer Steve Prud’homme created a wonderful new flyer for us which reflects all of our services in a colourful, modern way.

As far as new volunteers this month, it’s very much the case that you don’t have to be a world class athlete to ride for us but we are attracting some of Bury’s most distinguished.

I’m sure this has led to the sudden disappearance of all the best Quality Street and biscuits from Rickshaw Central. Clearly more fuel is needed for these speedier riders. In anticipation of a deluge of calls from people taking advantage of our free rides to Covid jabs, we took delivery of a new passenger rickshaw, an ex-demo model, and thus we have introduced a cheery orange into our brand colour palette. We can certainly now offer first class travel for our destination rides. We are delighted that Jacobs Allen, town centre-based accountants and tax specialists, shared our excitement and agreed to extend their sponsorship so we could make this new service possible.

February has definitely been the month for community love. Community Action Suffolk reached out for us to provide Isolation Buddies in the town, which we have been delighted to help with. Following all our recent media coverage, love came our way too with a wonderful donation of snuggly blankets and facemasks from Dunelm for our passengers, and wireless speakers from Hughes so we are now able to add the dimension of sound to our in-flight entertainment. This went down very well at Victoria Road surgery one Saturday morning, where there were inklings of the Job Centre scene from The Full Monty (Google it).

To help us fully enter into the spirit of the #LoveLocalDay campaign by Our Bury St Edmunds, Carl, from Whitehouse Party Shop on the Horringer Estate, furnished us with some gorgeous helium balloons to adorn our vehicles. We have been lucky enough to receive a number of donations out of the blue, including a generous one from Scotts Opticians. If you have seen us in the media and would like to share some love and support for us in the form of sponsorship, we would love to hear from you. If you have a need for a free ride or delivery, call us 01284 339449.
