Construction of 13 homes begins in Rougham, near Bury St Edmunds, in scheme led by West Suffolk Council-owned Barley Homes
A ground-breaking ceremony has marked the start of construction of 13 homes in a scheme led by a council-owned developer.
Four of the homes will be affordable in the development of the Barley Homes site in Kingshall Street, Rougham.
It includes a new footpath linking to the current right of way between Oak Lane and Kingshall Street.
Barley Homes, which is a housing company owned by West Suffolk Council, is working with Seamans Building to develop the site.
The homes will be a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom, with heating and hot water provided by air sourced heat pumps.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday.
A Barley Homes spokesperson said: “We are thrilled to be working with Seamans Building to deliver our Rougham development and provide sustainable, quality homes tailored to the local community.
“We have worked hard with the local planning authority to bring forward this site so it is great to finally break ground and get this development underway.”
