Coronavirus: Abbeycroft Leisure delays opening of centres tomorrow

Abbeycroft Leisure is to delay the opening of its centres by two hours tomorrow (March 17) following the Government's advice about coronavirus.

The company, which runs facilities including Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre and Skyliner Sports Centre in Bury, said it will open its centres at 8am, instead of 6am.

It follows Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement today (March 16) to avoid 'non-essential' travel and contact with others to stop the spread of coronavirus.

In a statement on its website, Abbeycroft said: "Following the Government’s press briefing today, we will be opening our centres slightly later tomorrow morning at 08:00, instead of 06:00.

"This is to allow us time to review their recommendations and take on board the latest leisure industry guidance, which may mean we need to adapt some of our services.

"We want to continue to provide opportunities for you to stay active and we will keep you updated of our decisions via this area of the website, on our social channels and by direct email."
