Guests on the day are students from 10 colleges across the UK, travelling from as far as the Isle of Wight, Leeds and Darlington.

John Jackaman, owner of ICE, said: “We are privileged to be able to welcome such well known and talented chefs to ICE for this incredible event. But the real stars of the show, of course, are the young people who are at the centre of the day and who will be the chefs and the hospitality ambassadors of the future.”

The second event is a comedy open mic night on Thursday which encourages wannabe stand up comedians the chance to perform on stage. They will have five minutes to tell their best jokes and one liners to a live audience and a panel of judges in the ICE garden.

Established comedians will open and close the show before acting as the judges. At the end of the night, the audience vote for their favourite act.

Acts run the risk of being ‘gonged off’ early by the judges, but the winner receives a slot on the main stage alongside professional comedians on one of the restaurant’s monthly comedy nights.

The event is free and tables can be booked by calling 01359 270102 or emailing enquiries@ice.cafe. Wannabe comedians can also register by calling or emailing.
